. . . whenever you're in a rut with your wardrobe or just want to make any look pop without any serious primping, reaching for a standout piece of jewelry—in this case an ethnic-inspired necklace—is your one-step solution (just make sure to keep everything else simple) . . .
. . . back in the midwest a few weeks ago celebrating my aunt's 55th surprise birthday party i happened to stop in aldo with my cousin—I was only looking for earrings. my cousin bought the Croner platform in yellow (her favorite color) and i eyed the same shoe in red but decided to just go with the feather and pearl Michaiah earrings. turning to pay for them before i was tempted by anything else i saw the sales associate with them on and new i had to have them: the Croner in blue—a blue that the picture does no justice for, my favorite electric blue. of course they didn't have them in store so I ordered them (and snatched up a bottle of Lavendar Fields nail lacquer they had conveniently placed at the register) and had them shipped to me back here in L.A. unfortunately when i finally received them they fit a little too perfect (they should seriously consider half-sizes) so I went into my closest store for the next size where I spotted Proa, my new favorite fold-over clutch.
. . . had to share this 'Yellow & Grey' look, styled by Alyssass, as it pretty much sums up my style mood right now: desperately want to be dressed in light flowy summer things in warm hues but, the overcast skies of recent days insist on adding shades of gray to my palette . . .
...perfectly balancing out an overly girly skirt with denim skinnies and leather booties; boldly pairing red lips with my already bright and bold red coat; and piling all my bracelets and rings onto one hand—the hand that carries my clutch.
...layering on as many prints as I deem proper to complete my look; keeping my favorite summer shoes out for fall and winter wear and pairing them with tights; and, not caring that it's only January when I decide to rock winter staples in head to toe white.
As an independent fashion blogger I am always creating files and folders, jotting down notes and leaving paper trails of ideas and inspirations for my blog posts. I wanted a central location to record it all... Meet THE EDITOR™.
I created THE EDITOR™ as a "headquarters" for everything blog related: important URLs to post ideas and management to revenue tracking and much more.
My personal style—in apparel—is heavily rooted in classic, elegant, timeless pieces. Then, to add a modern edginess that balances out the style that is my own I look to my obsessories—shoes, bags, jewelry etc. As a result, when I find pieces that can simultaneously speak to the past as well as the present I am instantly smitten—hence my allure to the above.
style is so personal . . . it is a visual extension of thoughts, feelings and moods, which is why it can change ever so subtly or in the most grandeur fashion and, when it is genuine, can never truly be wrong.
